Doctor assaulted in Kwanyuswa

The victim's vehicle was also stolen during the incident.

TWO men aged 24 and 30 who assaulted a doctor in his surgery and stole his car appeared in the Camperdown Magistrate’s Court for hijacking and possession of unlicensed firearms.

According to Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele, it is alleged that on 30 December 2015 at about 4.45pm, a 38-year-old victim, who is a doctor, had just closed his surgery in KwaNyuswa when he was accosted by two men who were armed with guns.

“The victim was allegedly assaulted by the men and his vehicle was stolen. Police were alerted about the incident as well as given the description of the men.

“On the same day Inchanga visible policing members who were conducting stop and search operations at Ntongela area spotted the vehicle that was hijacked earlier in Kwanyuswa,” he said.

Upon searching the vehicle police recovered two guns from the men. The men were taken to Inchanga police station where they were charged for hijacking as well as being in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.The men appeared again in court on Monday, 11 January
