Two seriously injured in Hillcrest crash

The Jaws-of-Life was needed to free two passengers who were trapped in the wreckage of a car.

FOUR people were injured during a collision on the M13 in Hillcrest yesterday afternoon.

ER24 paramedics, along with other emergency services, arrived on scene and found both vehicles in the median. One of the vehicles lay on its side in a ditch.

Two people were seriously injured and were still inside the vehicle that was lying on its side.

“Rescue services had to use the Jaws-of-Life to free one of the people from the vehicle. Once freed, paramedics treated them both and provided them with advanced life support,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman.

The two occupants of the second vehicle were assessed and only had minor injuries.

“Once treated, all four people were transported to various hospitals,” said Meiring.

The SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating.
