Accident victims makes appeal for information

"The driver ripped off the vehicle licence disk before he fled the scene," said Gershon.

PINETOWN residents Denelcia and her father Gershon Chetty are appealing to anyone with information about the driver of a vehicle that crashed into her causing her vehicle to overturn multiple times on Caversham Road on Monday, 28 December.

According to Netcare 911’s Chris Botha, Chetty’s vehicle overturned on impact, resting on its roof in the roadway. The other vehicle, a blue BMW veered off the road and was found on the grass verge. The driver and passenger of the other vehicle left the scene.

The accident took place two weeks after her 23rd birthday, writing off a birthday gift from her parents she received two years ago. The father and daughter are appealing for any information concerning the driver for insurance purposes.

Gershon said they found an ID and passport in the vehicle and there was a municipal parking disk on the windscreen.

“The driver ripped the vehicle licence disk off before he fled the scene,” said Gershon.

According to Legal Wise quick law guide, a person involved in an accident should not leave the scene of an accident until the police tell them to or throw away any potential evidence.

Denelcia dislocated her shoulder, fractured a leg and had to have stitches to her head. “I am grateful that I survived and thank the people that helped pull me out of my vehicle,” she said.
