New nature trail for Westville

The new nature trail will allow the public to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the area.

WESTVILLE Country Club’s President, Ed Pieret, and his team have been hard at work restoring the natural flora on their property that borders the current Westville Trail.

With the help of the Westville Conservancy, eThekwini Natural Resources and other stakeholders, they have spent R35 000 and two months clearing the area below the club of 100 tons of alien vegetation and bamboo to manually create a few kilometres of track that can be used by walkers, dog walkers and avid bird and nature lovers.

On Friday, 4 December, the public was invited to come along to see what has already been achieved, give suggestions and enjoy the currant upgrades.

“Our vision is to open the area to the community and allow the public to enjoy the peace and tranquility of our urban green lung and utilise the area we have to the maximum in a safe environment,” said Pieret.
