DARREN Fourie from Hyundai Pinetown has made himself, his family and team proud by taking third place in the Best Hyundai Salesman of the Year competition in South Korea.
Fourie, along with two other South Africans from Cape Town and Johannesburg, attended the Global Sales Executive Champions, which saw 127 of the best Hyundai salesmen from 61 countries competing for top honours.
The competition was judged over two days and consisted of a team event and sales skill events, incorporating the ‘nine moments of truth’ when the salesmen were tested on skills such as their selling ability and customer service.
Fourie sold 62 vehicles from January to June, making him the best salesman in South Africa, before jetting off overseas to test his abilities against the rest of the world.
He finished third behind Austria and Lebonan and received a trophy and $3 000.
“I’m good at what I do, and considering we had two weeks of training versus some of the countries having two years’ prep time, it was the proudest moment of my life so far. I did my dealership, family and country proud.”
