Holiday fun at Oxford Village
Entry to this exciting event is free.
AN action-packed holiday entertainment programme will be hosted at Oxford Village, Old Main Road, Hillcrest over the holidays.
The astro turf sports arena, will be the venue for soccer, basketball and other fun tournaments and individual skills displays. ‘Festive Friday’ will take place on December 18, with soccer and basketball events held between 5pm and 8pm.
Free style soccer competition
Individuals will have two minutes to show their soccer skills and tricks. Each competitor will be filmed and finalists will be posted on Facebook on Monday, 20 December. The finalist with the most ‘Likes’ on Facebook after one week will win a cash prize, with several additional prizes for other winners. Entry fee is R10.
Shoot The Hoop competition
Individuals will be given three chances each of shooting a basketball into the hoop from three different positions. Those succeeding in converting all three shots will go through to the finals where winners will be established through sudden death, winning cash prizes. Entry fee: R10.
Swap Shop
An U16’s Swap Shop will also take place on Friday, 18 December from 5pm to 8pm. The aim will be to develop U16s entrepreneurial skills and benefit charity while having fun. Youngsters can take their unwanted items and swap them with something that they fancy. They will need to use bargaining skills as no money will change hands.
They will have to design and build a brand for the item that they wish to swap. In addition, they will have to take one item that they are willing to donate to charity on the evening. There will be a prize for the best business and entrepreneurial skills. Entry is free.
