Nkululeko a good influence for his mates

He plays first team soccer and runs for the first team in cross country.

HUMBLE, down-to-earth and over achieving Nkululeko Makathini has been chosen as the SPAR Superstar senior winner.

This Grade 11 pupil, who is a prefect at Pinetown Boys’ High School, is the top student in his grade. In the first term, Nkululeko achieved 100 per cent for two of his control tests – Accounting and English.

Nkululeko received a SPAR hamper and a Samsung Galaxy Tab E for his great achievements. His favourite subject is maths. He plays first team soccer and runs for the first team in cross country.

Nkululeko made the U15 Highway soccer squad, the KZN soccer first team and also assists his coach with training of the junior teams at his club.

He also enjoys doing community work and is involved in his church and its youth group. He has had the opportunity to visit the Highway Hospice with PBHS.

Nkululeko is highly motivational, especially to his classmates, reminding them how important teamwork, academics and making an effort to achieve their goals are.

KZN SPAR advertising manager, Justin Harris, said, “We have a holistic approach when selecting the Superstar, someone who is good in sports and academically and Nkululeko is an all-rounder.”

“He is a great influence for his classmates, well done to the school for creating such a good product,” Harris added.

“I am very proud of him, he works hard at everything, he is my best physics student and also does well in my cross country team,” said Rebecca Goodrick, Nkululeko’s registration teacher.

“He is a leader and he will go on and do well in the future,” Goodrick said.

Nkululeko was so happy that he couldn’t express himself, “I never expect a reward for all that I do, its all to develop myself as an individual,” he said.

“I do believe I will be in prefect management next year, I would love to be part of that team,” he said.

Nkululeko said all his teachers have played a good role in his development, “I would like to thank them for providing me with good education and to SPAR, thank you,” he said.
