Be wary of DSW impostors during the festive season

DSW’s operational services will continue as normal during the festive season, including the public holidays.

ETHEKWINI Municipality has issued a statement that the Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit (Durban Solid Waste – DSW) staff will be working throughout the festive season, including Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Tozi Mthethwa, eThekwini Municipality’s head of communications, said while it is the season of giving, DSW staff are strictly prohibited from touting for gifts, including money, from residents.

“Residents are advised to be wary of impostors posing as municipal workers to solicit gifts,” she warned.

DSW’s operational services will continue as normal during the festive season, including the public holidays. People are urged to put out their refuse as early as possible to assist in this regard.

The DSW offices will be closed on Wednesday, 16, Friday, 25 and Saturday, 26 December and 1 January. However, operational staff will be on duty throughout the festive season. For enquiries, contact the DSW helpline on 031 311 8804.

Due to the unavailability of contractors on Friday, 25 December and 1 January, the collection of orange and clear bags will not take place.
