Frantic search for missing Hillcrest High pupil

A missing person's case has been opened with Hillcrest SAPS.

A SEARCH is underway to find a 16-year-old boy from Waterfall who was last seen this morning (Monday, 30 November).

Paul Mkhize also known as Njabulo is a Grade 9 pupil at Hillcrest High School.

According to Stephen King from Waterfall Crime Watch, Paul left his home in Berlin Road, Waterfall at around 5.30am for his daily jog before school. He returned home and showed his mother a knife that he had found lying on the ground on Glen Grey Drive, Waterfall. King said the mother then instructed the boy to return the knife where he had found it.

“He came home after his jog and showed me this big knife he had found and I told him to return the knife to the spot as it might have been used in a robbery,” said Hlengiwe Mkhize, Paul’s mother.

Hlengiwe said she went back into the house to take a shower when her other son, Peter, who is Paul’s twin brother, informed her that Paul had left the house again to put back the knife.

“I started worrying when I saw the time and he hadn’t returned home as he was going to be late for school because he had an EMS exam to write today. I tried his cellphone and it went straight to voice mail,” said Hlengiwe.

Hillcrest High School confirmed that he hadn’t arrived at school to write his exam.

Paul was last seen wearing his school navy blue tracksuit pants and a navy and red Hillcrest High hockey t-shirt.

Hillcrest SAPS Communications Officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele confirmed that the mother opened a missing person’s case at the police station today.
