Rotary Club donates to Fulton School

The cheque handover for an amount more than R7 800 took place at the school on Monday, 19 October.

HAVING decent desks for pupils to use forms part of the basic needs of the day-to-day functioning of any school.

The Fulton School for the Deaf in Gillitts was given the opportunity to purchase new desks for the school through a donation from the Rotary Club of Inchanga/1 000 Hills. The cheque handover for an amount more than R7 800 took place at the school on Monday, 19 October.

“The Rotary Club applied for an annual district grant, which is always donated to a deserving beneficiary. This year we approached Fulton to find out what it needed the most.

“We’ve been connected to the school before and it was a pleasure to be able to give them an opportunity to buy new desks, which we hope will make a difference for the pupils,” said Jan Warren, head of the Rotary club’s community portfolio.

The school needs a revamp, says Bronwyn Bouwer, Fulton School deputy principal, as worn-out desks and equipment need to be replaced.

“We appreciate this donation, and on behalf of the school say thank you very much to Rotary. We’re able to keep our doors open to children in our community because of generous donations and people who continuously help us,” added Bouwer.
