Kitten rescued from a storm water drain pipe

The kitten is a gorgeous tortoiseshell female and is only a few weeks old.

THE Kloof and Highway SPCA congratulated Inspector Petros Simamane and Pumlani Zondi of the Kloof and Highway SPCA for rescuing a tiny kitten from a storm water drain pipe at Birkshire Road in New Germany on Tuesday, 20 October.

According to Lisa Gadd from the Kloof and Highway SPCA, the rescue operation took more than 30 minutes to free the kitten, as the kitten had managed to get herself stuck in a very small space.

Gadd said it was not an easy rescue, but Simamane and Zondi’s teamwork ensured that the kitten was rescued.

The kitten is a gorgeous tortoiseshell female and is only a few weeks old.

“She was immediately admitted into our clinic to recover from her ordeal. Thankfully she sustained no injuries but will remain in our clinic under the veterinarian’s care for the next few days.

“It is unclear how long the kitten had been stuck in the drain, but we would like to sincerely thank the caring member of our community for phoning the Kloof and Highway SPCA to report the kitten’s cries for help,” said Gadd.
