Teen murder angers community

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is encouraged to contact the police.

KWANGCOLOSI community is reeling with anger after a teenage girl was murdered and found in a toilet on Friday, 9 October.

Zothile Zesuliwe Nxumalo (14), who was last seen at Inanda Dam on Tuesday, 6 October, was found with stab wounds and police suspect that she had been raped before being killed.

Ward 8 councillor, Themba Shelembe, said the KwaNgcolosi community is shocked by this barbaric and cruel incident.

“This gruesome murder has left us shattered, we have never experienced such brutality in the community,” he said. “Although the community is angry about the murder, we are appealing to them not to take the law into their own hands.

“If ever they have a lead on the perpetrator they should report it to me or the police, as two wrongs do not make a right.”

Shelembe applauded the community for the role they played when Zothile went missing. “KwaNgcolosi really came together to search for the girl and they really supported the family through this tough time,” he said.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, said no arrests have been made. “Police are busy with investigations and they are sure that the culprit/s will be arrested soon,” he said.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation can Contact Det/Cst Dlamini on 031 765 9140 or 083 643 3380.
