Update: Snare cat rehomed

The snare was successfully removed and the wound carefully cleaned.

THERE was great excitement as Snatch (re-named Larry), the cat that had been caught in a snare, was adopted.

Amanda Kenny and her family have opened their hearts to Larry to give him a second chance at a loving home.

On Saturday, 5 September, the Kloof and |Highway SPCA inspectorate standby team received a call from a concerned member of the public, Dr Kadwa of Westville, reporting an injured stray ginger cat in their garden with wire wrapped around its stomach.

Inspector Petros Simamane responded to the call and the cat was taken to Sherwood After-hours Veterinary Clinic to be examined by a vet. He was sedated and X-rayed to ensure that the wire, which was in fact a snare, had not caused any major internal damage.

The snare was successfully removed and the wound carefully cleaned. The following Monday morning, he was taken back to the Kloof and Highway SPCA clinic to rest and recover.

Once his wounds had sufficiently healed, he was put up for adoption.
