A 16-YEAR-OLD boy was arrested at Embo Reserve on Monday, 19 October by Hillcrest detectives.
Hillcrest SAPS communications officer, Cst Ndumiso Manqele, said it is alleged that on Friday, 16 October, a girl (14) was at a tavern with her friends in Embo at about 10pm.
“The girl was called by the accused, who is known to her. The accused pulled the victim to the back of the tavern and raped her.”
Manqele said the victim reported the matter to her friends and she informed her parents of what happened to her, and a case of rape was opened at Hillcrest police station.
The case was handed over to Pinetown Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit to continue with the investigation. The accused will be charged and is expected to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 21 October.
