Road closures for Amashova

All cyclists still on the road after 2.30pm will be removed from the route and transported by a sweep vehicle to the finish point.

NOW in its 29th year, the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic organisers ask residents to not only cheer on the competitors but also bear with organisers and traffic authorities who will be closing the roads along the Amashova route from 4am.

Road closure times along the route are:

Chief Albert Luthuli Street – Alexandra Road: 4am to 9.30am; Alexandra Road – Umlaas Road: 5am to 12pm; Umlaas Road – R103 Inchanga/1 000 Hills: 4.30am to 12.30pm; R103 Inchanga – Botha’s Hill Butchery: 4.30am to 1.15pm; R103 Patna Road – Kassier Road/M13 on-ramp: 4.30am to 1.45pm; M13 Hillcrest – M13 Westville: 4.15am to 2.45pm; M13 Westville – M13 45th Cutting: 4.15am to 2.45pm; N3 outbound – Monty Naiker Street: 5am to 3.15pm; Monty Naiker Street (Pine Street): 4am to 3.30pm; Masabalala Yengwa Avenue (north-bound): 4am to 4pm.

For those cycling, ensure the cut-off times for race day are noted.

The first cut-off will be at Inchanga Caravan Park (45.5km into the race) at 12.15pm. The second cut-off will be outside the butchery on Botha’s Hill (60.2km into the race) at 1pm. The third cut-off will be at the top of Kassier Road, just before the on-ramp onto the M13 (67km into the race) at 1.30pm. The fourth cut-off will be under the pedestrian bridge just before the M13 (Exit 17) at St John’s Ave (82km into the race) at 2pm. The last cut-off will be at 45th Cutting, under the bridge just before you reach the N3 off-ramp (91.2km into the race) at 2.30pm.
