Waterfall family victims of home invasion

It is unknown at this stage whether or not the suspects came in a vehicle or on foot.

A FAMILY was subjected to a home invasion in Debengeni Road, Waterfall yesterday (6 October) at around 9.30am when three men forced their way into the house.

The husband was kicked in the head by one of the suspects and the wife and children were taken to another room.

They stole a flat screen TV, four cellphones, two iPads, jewellery and the family vehicle.

The three suspects are believed to be in their 20s. They were dark in complexion and wearing round-brimmed hats. At least one suspect had a 9mm firearm; they were organised and knew what they wanted – in and out in 15 minutes. It is unknown at this stage whether or not they came in a vehicle or on foot.

“Nothing has been picked up on any of the cameras in the area so it is believed that they came in from the Inanda Road service station and went down Debengeni to a point just above where our first camera is,” said Karen Buxton head of reaction for the Waterfall 3 Neighbourhood Watch.

She added, “Please be on high alert as it seems that ‘Christmas shopping’ has started early this year, with our surrounding neighbours in Crestholme and Forest Hills also being hit. Now this crime has spread to Waterfall 3 after a long quiet period.”

Extra patrols are required and residents are asked to the phone reaction phone number on 071 750 5490 – 24 hours a day – if they see or hear anything suspicious in the area.

The monthly neighbourhood watch meeting at Crinkley Bottom will take place on Tuesday, 13 October at 7pm.
