New Germany Roads denied traffic calming measures

A appeal was sent to the eThekwini Transport Authority (ETA) by the Ward's PR councillor.

BROADWAY and Padfield Roads in New Germany will not be getting traffic calming upgrades as requested by residents.

A appeal was sent to the eThekwini Transport Authority (ETA) by DA PR councillor, Riona Gokool, for traffic calming measures to be put on both the roads following complaints from residents of reckless driving on these roads.

The ETA takes up to ten weeks to assess the roads in accordance with the city’s traffic calming policy.

The assessment, according to the feedback received from the ETA, provides an objective way of assessing traffic calming requests based on a number of criteria, which include (but are not limited to) accidents, community facilities, side distance and sidewalks.
