Getfit raises money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis

Getfit Athletic Club is raising funds and awareness for MS.

GETFIT Athletic Club raised R15 000 at a golf day at Kloof Country Club to raise much-needed funds for Multiple Sclerosis KZN (MSKZN).

The club has a long relationship with MS sufferer, Oliver Sinclair, and his wife, Michelle, who is one of the club’s athletes.

“We were delighted to raise R15 000 for their cause. Our members have supported Oli’s efforts to raise awareness for MS by joining him on the ECR Discovery Big Walk, and we will also be doing the Amashova with the MS group next month,” said Alison Moor, secretary of the Getfit Athletic Club.

Multiple Sclerosis KZN is a registered NGO (non-government-funded organisation). Their major fundraising event per year is the Amashova Classic 35km, where about 100 cyclists ride together, and their aim is to raise about R150 000 this year.

Funds raised are used for assistance with incontinenence supplies and social workers and carers for patients who cannot afford them. They also supply wheelchairs and beds, if possible.

Dee Munks, chairman of MSKZN, said, “A big thank-you to Getfit Athletic Club for its generous donation and support of MSKZN. It is much appreciated.”
