Drummond artist exhibits at Hilton Festival

Local artist excited to be back at Hilton Arst Festival.

Drummond artist, Paul Muzefani will again be exhibiting his artworks at the Hilton Arts Festival from 17 to 20 September, exhibiting in the Bell Tower.

Muzefani originally hails from Zimbabwe. Coming from an artistic family he was surrounded by art and creative endeavours from birth. His father painted, his mother embroidered and his siblings were creative as well, even the streets where he grew up were named after artists.

“I started painting when l was five as l used to see my father, Richard Chovuchovu paint hence teaching myself the colour wheel.”

Since then there has been no looking back and his talent has grown from strength to strength, with his exuberance and love of life resonating from his canvases as he captures the rich tapestry of rural living.

He has a natural artist’s eye and is a keen observer of people in everyday situations, whether at work or at play and is able to translate what he sees onto canvas.

“I’m inspired by life. I paint what l see. I actually paint what I live and know; life, colour and action.”

He paints in acrylics because they are quick drying so he is able to capture fleeting moments before they are lost. He also feels the medium is powerful and capable of leaving a lasting impression on the observer. Although his primary medium is acrylic he is very open to other mediums and just loves experimenting. He’s even beginning to venture into sculptures.

Muzefani has a very positive and realistic outlook on life. He dreams big but is dedicated to working hard to achieve great things and is prepared to put in the time and effort. He paints for the love of it and for the joy it brings others.

“Life is what you make it and patience pays one day. I love putting smiles on people’s faces, it’s priceless.”

He also wants to share his talents with the upcoming generation, which he finds very therapeutic, “I am teaching children the joy of art. It’s a complete stress reliever.”

Muzefani’s pieces are selling well and he normally displays his artworks at the Maytime Gallery in Kloof. He also does as many markets as possible to get his name out there. Over and above this, he has works currently hanging in London and Milan.

Paul was first invited to the Hilton Arts Festival five years ago and has been exhibiting there every year since, much to his delight,

“I am very excited and humbled to be part of this year’s festival.”
