Women inspired at Robin Hood conference

The first Robin Hood Foundation's Future Women of Africa conference was a huge success.

YOUNG women from disadvantaged communities were inspired, educated and uplifted thanks to the Robin Hood Foundation’s first ever Future Women of Africa conference.

The two-day event aimed to educate the 1 200 women, who were between the ages of 15 and 36, on a range of topics and important practical skills that would enable them to go out and change their own lives and the lives of others around them.

Dis-chem’s nurses and cosmetic teams from all their Durban branches were on hand treat and educate the delegates. Blood pressure and glucose testing was done as well as makeup and perfume sampling.

Wonderbag sponsored a Wonderbag for every delegate so that they would be able to go home and start changing the way they cook, and Wonderbag founder, Sarah Collins, spoke about the how the women can use the product in their own lives and also for entrepreneurial purposes.

Other guest speakers included Cindy Norcott, Gcina Mhlope, Jackie Houston, Sr Nadene Olley, Kim Griffith-Jones, Fay and Megan Coleman, S’bo Khoza, Mariane Vorster, Monique Labat, Eric Tocknell, Danielle How, Nomfundo Molefe and Darryl Williams.
