Children injured in Shongweni car accident

Two children were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in, hit a truck.

A boy and a girl, both aged seven, were seriously injured after a car slammed into a truck on the N3 south near the Shongweni off-ramp on Friday, afternoon.

A report from the scene indicate that the vehicle with the children inside was travelling north when it veered off the road, hurtled across the centre median and then slammed into a truck.

“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found that the two children had sustained very serious injuries. After they were treated at the scene and skilfully immobilised on trauma boards, the paramedics transported them to a hospital in Durban for the specialised care that they required,” explained Chris Botha, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.
