Keegan and Jenna win gold at World Champs

Westville pupils, Jenna Moodie and Keegan Barnes, were acknowledged for their achievements in the World Championships of Performing Arts in California.

WESTVILLE high schools congratulated pupils, Keegan Barnes of Westville Boys’ High School and Jenna Moodie of Westville Girls’ High School, on winning gold in the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles, California between 6 and 22 July.

This dynamic dance duo were selected as part of the South African squad and competed in five dances. They bagged gold in their hip-hop and musical characters routines, silver in jazz and lyrical and bronze in the open category, as well as a scholarship to the prestigious Millenium Dance Complex, the world’s foremost hip-hop dance academy, based in the US.

Lyndy Coombe, marketing manager at Westville Boys’ High School, said competing against more than 3 000 other acts, this truly set them apart as world leaders in the field of dance choreography.

“We can’t wait to see them return to South Africa and to welcome Keegan back onto our stage one last time as he showcases his incredible talent in Guys and Dolls, which opens on Friday, 31 July and runs until 8 August.
