Help rebuild a bridge at Glenholme Nature Reserve

Support the Highway branch of WESSA's fundraiser slide presentation about 'North Island, New Zealand' to rebuild a bridge at Glenholme Nature Reserve.

WILDLIFE and Environmental Society of South Africa (WESSA), Highway branch will host a fundraiser photographic slide presentation on ‘North Island in New Zealand’ at the Frank Farrer Hall, Old New Germany Road in Westville on Sunday, 19 July at 2.30pm.

The Highway branch of WESSA, Kloof Conservancy and the Kloof and Highway SPCA have joined together to restore Glenholme Nature Reserve, situated on the grounds of the SPCA, to its former glory.

Much work, including the repairs to two of the bridges and opening of the paths, has been accomplished. However, one further bridge still needs to be re-built.

The original, built by Highway Branch of WESSA back in the 1980s, was both a bridge over the stream and a walkway over the areas that become waterlogged after heavy rains. If WESSA cannot raise enough funds to repair both the bridge and the walkway, they plan on first rebuilding the bridge over the stream and if necessary try to put stepping stones along the areas which can become waterlogged.

Donations towards the cost of rebuilding the third bridge will be accepted at the showing.

Go along and enjoy a tour of North Island NZ and help rebuild the bridge. Tea and coffee will be served. They are hoping to do both if they raise the money.

All welcome.
