Policeman wanted for woman’s murder

Police are searching for a policeman believed to be linked to the murder of a woman who was found dead near the Shongweni dumpsite in October last year.

A POLICEMAN, believed to be linked to the murder of Nalini Naidoo, who was found dead near the Shongweni dam in October last year, is currently on the run. The Provincial Task Team has launched a search to find the man for his alleged role in the murder of Naidoo, who sustained a stab wound to her neck.

According to media reports, police spokesman, Colonel Jay Naicker, confirmed the case and said the police will not tolerate criminal elements within the police, and any member who is accused of being involved in crime will be arrested and will face the full might of the law.

It is believed Naidoo’s husband appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday, after he was accused of having a role in planning his wife’s murder. Three other men were convicted and sentenced to 45 years for murder and kidnapping.

The Highway Mail published an article earlier this year after the provincial projects, murder and robbery team appealed for information on the murder of the 47-year-old woman. According to police reports, Naidoo, who lived at the Mount Edgecombe Golf Estate, was dropped off at the Malvern Centre by her husband on 29 October, 2014 at around 10am, prior to her disappearance.

She was found after an unknown man notified police of his gruesome discovery. The man, who was driving a white bakkie, stopped police at the Hillcrest Private Hospital on the same day at around 11.45am and said he saw the body of a woman while he was offloading refuse.
