New beginnings for HCA

Hillcrest Christian Academy are in the process of building its High School.

CURRO Hillcrest Christian Academy held its first assembly on the new high school premises along Inanda Road on Friday. The school is expected to be ready for the first term of 2016 and will now cater for Grade 11 pupils.

HCA’s marketing representative, Fiona Johnson, said, “We are expanding and growing each year by adding on a new grade to the high school, and in 2016 we will welcome Grade 11 pupils. The platforms are also being cut for the sporting facilities while the two education blocks, hall and administration block have been marked and prepared for building.

“We have 150 trees ready for planting as well as 10 large fever trees on order, in order to line the road leading to the entrance.”

The school will include features such as a tennis academy, which will be launched at the high school under the auspices of JT Tennis and Rob Koenig, and will have six tennis courts, two of which will be under cover, and one clay court.

A 50-metre swimming pool will be built at the high school in partnership with Aquazone (Angela Marlton), and will also include a ‘learn to swim’ baby pool for beginners. A sports science centre will be built, which will include a gym, physiotherapist’s office and biokineticist’s office.

Simply Cricket will be housed in a mini-indoor centre that will be erected over the existing cricket nets at the primary school, where Shaun Warner will develop the school’s cricket players in both the primary and high school.

A hockey astro field, rugby and soccer fields and a netball court will also be included.
