School benefits from ‘close-knit’ bond with local organisation

As part of their ongoing community initiatives, the Kloof Methodist Women's Auxiliary recently donated beanies and tracksuits to Gillitts Primary School.

IN keeping with their district project for the year, the Kloof Methodist Women’s Auxiliary donated 140 tracksuits and 90 beanies to Gillitts Primary School. The clothing, which was personally sewn or knitted by members of the group, was part of the annual Trackathon initiative, which has been running for the past 21 years.

Pupils and residents who reside close to the school benefited from this heart-warming project when they received the beanies and tracksuits, and some blankets that were previously donated to the school. The group supports numerous organisations and each year a different organisation is selected to be part of the district project.

Pegs Buhrmann, who is a member of the Kloof Methodist Women’s Auxiliary group, said, “The items were greatly appreciated by the staff of the school, who do their best, and besides teaching the children, they care for their welfare and supply meals when needed.”

Principal of Gillitts Primary School, Arti Jadoo, said, “We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful, kind and loving women from the Kloof Methodist Church for providing our children and some parents with much-needed winter items. The beautifully hand-made hats will protect our children from the harsh winter cold as most of them leave home at 6am. May God richly bless them with excellent health so they may continue to be an inspiration to us and spread joy and love.”
