Waterfall College wins national Vega Vibe 2015

The local school bagged a provincial and national award.

WATERFALL College was named the KZN and national winner of Vega VIBE 2015. The school received R10 000 and a floating trophy, and each of the six pupils in the winning team was awarded with R2 000.

Pupils from high schools across South Africa had real-life experience of brand development in the world of business when Vega School of Brand Leadership invited them to its campuses in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban and Cape Town to take part in VIBE 2015 (Vega Interschool Brand Experience). This exciting annual initiative groups pupils into ‘mini brand consultancies’ and exposes them to the process of how a marketing strategy is developed from start to finish.

Since the event fell on Human Rights Day, VIBE 2015’s theme focused on human rights – specifically those of children. Working in teams, with fully equipped studios at their disposal and supported by Vega mentors, the pupils were tasked with interacting with this meaningful topic and coming up with significant marketing strategies to meet a specific brief.

The best performing team in each region won a prize for delivering exceptional work in completing the challenge, and the best team nationally also won a prize and a floating trophy for their school.

“This challenge is designed to expose the next generation to the creative careers and to encourage them to tap into their natural skills and talents to build brands based on innovative ideas. It was very exciting to see the pupils working hard to address real issues that affect many of South Africa’s population. They also learnt valuable lessons about team and group work. The VIBE challenge gives students the practical and theoretical experience to afford them a glimpse into the world of brand building and communication. Our doors are open to everyone who wants to revolutionise brands,” said Vega co-founder, Dr Carla Enslin.
