Six injured in New Germany collision

Two children, aged two and 10, were among the six people who were injured in a collision.

SIX people, including a two-year-old baby, were injured on Sunday evening when two bakkies collided in Qashana Khuzwayo (Shepstone) Road, New Germany.

Paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene and found the two bakkies on the side of the road.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman, said one of the vehicles had been crushed up against a fuel station generator.

“On assessment, paramedics discovered that six people had sustained injuries ranging from moderate to serious. Two children, aged two and 10, were among the six people who were injured.

“Patients were treated by paramedics as well as fire services, providing them with advanced life support treatment,” said Meiring.

They were then transported to various hospitals. Local authorities will be investigating the cause of the collision.
