Local dancers off to New York

A group of nine dancers from the KZN Dance Centre will be travelling to New York for a dance experience of a lifetime.

A GROUP of young dancers from the Highway area are going on a New York Dance experience.

According to Kim and Bonnie Hayman, dance instructors at the KZN Dance Centre, they will be accompanying Kristen Davis, Jamie Rose Sims, Courtney Gallocher, Savannah De Almeida, Micha Murray, Rachel Nel and Cassidy Whiteford to New York. They will be taking classes at the Broadway Dance Centre, seeing some Broadway shows, taking a tour of Julliard and more.

“These passionate dancers simply love what they do. It really is an experience of a lifetime for any aspiring dancer,” said Bonnie Hayman.

Bonnie also mentioned two of her students, Keita Cronjé and Nikita Koumantarakis (both at St Mary’s DSG), who won bursaries at the Durban Dance Foundation Bursary Awards in May.

A third student, Lisa Felix, achieved gold with distinction for her final level 12 of the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards.
