Sonke to speak at the 7th Aids Conference

Sonke Gender Justice will join the conversation at the seventh South African Aids Conference.

THIS Thursday, 11 June, Sonke Gender Justice will join other civil society organisations, health organisations, activists, academic researchers, development agencies and government representatives in Durban for the seventh South African Aids Conference, which commenced on Tuesday, 9 June at the Durban International Conference Centre (ICC).

Sonke has participated in the planning of this year’s South African Aids Conference and will be participating in a number of events and panel discussions.

One of the topics that will be covered by Sonke is ‘Challenging Gender Norms in Response to HIV and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)’.

“We recognise the importance of targeting men and boys to address the epidemics of HIV and GBV, and we have thus implemented a targeted community mobilisation model using the ‘One Man Can’ campaign,” said a Sonke Gender Justice press release.
