Watchmen Cameras to keep an eye on Gillitts 2

Gillitts 2 is better protected thanks to Enforce and the Gillitts 2 Community Network team.

Enforce has come on board with the Gillitts 2 Community Network to donate and install two Watchmen Camera Domes in the Gillitts 2 area to the value of R60 000.

Eighteen months of discussion between the Gillitts 2 Community Network chairman and Enforce have resulted in the Watchmen Cameras being erected at the intersections of Blue Gum and Old Main Roads, and at the top of Glenwood and Lynnwood Roads.

“They have donated three cameras, and another has been graciously sponsored by a resident, giving us four cameras up and running at the two sites at the moment,” said Allan Dyer, chairman of Gillitts 2 Community Network. “Those sites are busy and ideally we need one more camera in each dome, so are looking to the Gillitts residents and businesses for assistance now.”

The cameras will be monitored, recorded and maintained by the Enforce team. Further to this, Enforce has linked each of the 41 Gillitts 2 volunteer patrollers up to their cellphone panic system so that it is easy for them to call for backup when necessary.

“They have been assisting us and the residents, even if their home doesn’t belong to one of their clients or doesn’t have an alarm company. They have also undertaken that, as their footprint in the area grows, they will keep investing back into the Gillitts 2 area.

“From the team at Gillitts 2, I really want to express my personal gratitude for their increased presence in our area and the great support we have enjoyed so far.”
