Man’s body found at the bottom of Paradise Valley

A man allegedly jumped off the bridge to commit suicide.

A man has died after allegedly jumping off the Paradise Valley bridge on Wednesday afternoon.

Netcare 911 rescue officers and the SAPS search and rescue unit arrived and had to use mountain rescue gear to get to the deceased.

“Tragically it was found that he had died before our arrival due to the extensive injuries that he sustained,” said Chris Botha, media liaison officer for Netcare 911.

According to Rescuetech, one of their rescue officers were the first emergency personnel on scene, a specialised system was set up to hoist and retrieve the body up to the road level. His body was handed over to local SAPS for further investigation.

Authorities are still awaiting an autopsy report.
