Girl pupils report for duty

The girls had a better understanding of the work environment and experienced various duties in each of the departments.

TWENTY girl pupils from Umkhumbane Secondary School in Chesterville took part in the Cell C’s 13th Take A Girl Child to Work Day at Varsity College, Westville campus on Wednesday, 27 May.

The Grade 10 and 11 pupils were invited to shadow staff in the various departments and learn about the working environment.

Zanele Ntombela, student relations manager of Varsity College, said the campus is very thankful to have been given the opportunity to take part in the Cell C Take A Girl Child to Work Day.

“The girls had a better understanding of the work environment and experienced various duties in each of the departments,” said Ntombela.

The pupils were treated to tea and muffins on arrival, a brief campus tour and then they were divided into small groups and explored all the campus departments.

The day ended with lunch and question and answer session between the pupils and the principal, Yenusha Ramluggan.
