Man critically injured in M7 accident
Details and proceedings of the accident are still under police investigation.
A man has been left seriously injured after being involved in a rear-end accident on the M7 west just past the N3 on Tuesday afternoon. Traffic has also been affected in the Pinetown-bound direction.
Netcare 911 paramedics rescue unit and the fire department arrived at the scene and found a bakkie wedged under the rear of the truck with the driver still trapped in the mangled wreckage.
While the rescue officer and firemen worked tirelessly using the jaws of life to free the patient from the twisted metal, medics had to climb into the vehicle to stabilise the wounded man.
After the patient was extricated and skilfully immobilised on a trauma board, they transported him to an area hospital for the specialised care that he required.
