12 injured in six-car pile-up

SAPS are investigating the cause of the collision.

TWELVE people were injured after six cars collided on the M13 west-bound between Essex Terrace and Rockdale Avenue just after 7am on Friday, 22 April.

According to Garrith Jamieson, operations director for Rescue Care, when paramedics arrived on scene they found six vehicles involved in a collision – one had overturned, coming to rest on its roof.

“A total of 12 people suffered minor to moderate injuries and were stabilised on the scene before being taken to various Durban hospitals,” said Jamieson.

He added that at this stage it was unclear what caused the collision. However, SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating.

Traffic was severely affected as emergency personnel worked to clear the scene.
