Drive with care at Pinetown CBD intersections – SAPS

Police warn of Pinetown's dangerous intersections.

MOTORISTS are urged once again by police ensure that they keep their windows closed especially when approaching intersections in the Pinetown CBD.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Cst Phindile Radebe said many cases of robberies have been reported where motorists are robbed by criminals because they take advantage of open windows.

“Pinetown is a busy place and is surrounded by a big industrial area where people from all the provinces come to deliver and collect goods for their businesses.

“These criminals have a way of making you to open a window when it is closed. They point at the tyre of the vehicle to say that it is flat and when you open the window to check, they rob you,” she said.

“Due to the road construction that is taking place in the Pinetown CBD, the criminals are also taking advantage of that.

The problematic streets included Josiah Gumede (Old Main) Road from Anderson Street up to Crompton Street, Chancery Lane, Glenugie Road and also Kings Road.

The items that are usually taken are cellphones, jewelry and money.
