Go Durban! disrupts power in New Germany

A damaged cable has left residents and businesses without electricity for the past 24 hours.

RESIDENTS and businesses situated on Shepstone Road, Pinetown have had to endure a power outage for more than 24 hours.

According to an employee at one of the affected businesses, the power outage began yesterday at around 10am, when an electrical cable was apparently damaged during the road works.

The employee said that although they have a generator, which is supplying electricity to parts of the store, the refrigerators have been affected by the power outage.

He further stated that this is not the first time an incident of this nature has occurred. The shop was also affected a month ago when another cable was also damaged.

A resident, who wished to remain anonymous contacted the Highway Mail Newspaper to report the power outage. She said, “We reported the issue and someone did come out to assess the situation. We were told that we might not have electricity for the rest of the night as they don’t know how long it will take to repair the damage.”
