THE Gillitts Community Hall was packed to capacity last Thursday when around 623 residents gathered to hear about the process regarding the Municipal Demarcation Board’s ward demarcation, which affects Ward 10. Two sessions had to be held to accommodate the large number of residents.

Councillor, Geoff Pullen, conducted a presentation at the meeting, as he has been designated to interact with the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB). Pullen was also responsible for putting forward the DA Caucus counter proposals.

Speaking about the outcome of the meeting, Ward 10 councillor, Rick Crouch, said, “The mood of the meeting was generally good. We explained the process undertaken by the MDB, the reasoning behind the demarcation process and our counter-proposals as they affected Ward 10. We then answered a number of questions from the audience.

“People left more enlightened about the process, and it is now up to the individual residents to object should they wish to. The deadline is the end of the business day on Friday, 15 May. I will also be objecting and submitting counter-proposals on behalf of the community members who signed the register, as will the Ward 10 ward committee.”
