Hillcrest High School supports crisis centre

The donation will be distributed to refugees in the various camps around Durban that the Crisis Centre is assisting.

HILLCREST High School’s Interact Club facilitated the collection of non-perishable goods from its pupils and their families in response to a recent appeal for assistance from Open Door Crisis Centre to meet its monthly demands.

Neither group realised at the time that the xenophobic attacks were about to happen in Durban, and the appeal quickly changed to include blankets, nappies, clothing and toiletries to assist refugees in the various camps around Durban that the crisis centre is assisting.

Thelma Smith, secretary at the crisis centre, was absolutely ecstatic with the amount of goods collected by the school, and thanked the pupils and their families for their generosity.

President of the Interact Club, Abigail Sprighton, echoed the sentiment and said that the pupils had given generously, and that she was pleased that the school could be of assistance to the crisis centre and their excellent work.
