Deputy principal honoured for long service

Wyebank Primary School's deputy principal received a long service award from the Department of Education.

DEPUTY principal of Wyebank Primary School, Mrs Namwanthi Singh, received a long service award from the Department of Education recently.

Although the award was dated March 2013 to commemorate her 40 years in education, she only received it recently.

The 63-year-old said she was grateful to the Lord for giving her the opportunity to serve in the teaching industry for so many years. “I’m hoping the Lord will allow me to conclude my career in teaching in two years time, when I retire,” said Singh.

She said she started working at Wyebank Primary School in 1993 and was one of the first teachers at the school.

“I spent many years in this community and seen many pupils grow from children to adults, and some even parents and professionals now,” added Singh.
