Learn about human trafficking

People are invited to go and support the human trafficking campaign.

OPEN Door Crisis Care Centre supporters and 20 SAPS members will walk from Durban to Johannesburg to raise awareness on the scourge of Human Trafficking on Saturday, 2 May.

People are invited to be present at the information centre that will be set up between SAPS Pinetown and Pinetown Girls’ High School.

The Hillcrest police station is also inviting the community members to join the at Mr Price Parking lot on Saturday, 2 May at 10.30am to support this campaign. The  station is appointed as one of the passing by route station.

Pinetown SAPS communications officer, Lt Bongumusa Manqele said the purpose of the walk is not only to raise awareness but also much-needed funds to sustain the existing services.

“The walk will start in Durban at about 7.30am, and information centres will be set up along the Comrades Marathon route.

“The community will be lectured about human trafficking by Open Door officials at 10am,” he said.

On Saturday, 18 April there was an official launch of the campaign, where guest speakers from different organisation were present to share their knowledge on human trafficking.

People are urged to learn more about human trafficking, as statistics shows that it is the fastest-growing crime in the world.
