Courtney shines on stage

Westville Girls' High School has chosen Grade 12 pupil, Courtney Kantor, as its SPAR Star of the Month.

GRADE 12 pupil, Courtney Kantor, was awarded with a Cum Laude award for her contribution to dramatic arts at Westville Girls’ High School.

At the end of the first term, the school celebrated the exceptional achievements of Courtney Kantor, who, since Grade 8, has demonstrated a rare talent in performing arts. Through her various roles in both the Westville Boys’ High School and Westville Girls’ High School stages, this young lass has demonstrated her versatility as an actress, appearing in the musical comedy, The Wiz, to the height of tragic drama in her lead role in Macbeth.

Courtney is a highly-motivated and organised young woman, who has managed to balance the demands of the academic aspect of her time at Westville Girls’ High School along with a full extra-curricular programme. As head drama monitor and a member of the Leadership Management Team, she demonstrates strong leadership abilities and gives of her time to assist her peers.

Earlier this year, Courtney took on the role of Lady Macbeth in the WBHS production of Macbeth, which is a challenging role for such a young actress. This was approached and executed with skill beyond her years, demonstrating that she has absorbed and used the skills that she has been taught in conjunction with her exceptional talent. She has grown as a performer as she continues to work on her skill and hone her craft.

Due to Courtney’s passion and enthusiasm shown in performing arts, Westville Girls’ High School has chosen her as its SPAR Star of the Month.
