Resurfaced M4 should make for smooth Tour Durban fun ride

The resurfacing of the M4 freeway should make for a good event.

The resurfacing of the M4 freeway should make for a pleasant and enjoyable 45km Fun Ride in the hugely popular aQuellé Tour Durban on Sunday, 26 April.

There have been concerns among some riders about potholes and the deteriorating road quality along some sections of the route, but with the completion of the resurfacing, the entire length of the fun race will be along a pristine road surface that will make the event more appealing to novice riders.

“This is by far the best quality route we have been able to lay on for the 45km Fun Ride,” said route manager, Andrew van Rensberg. “This is an accessible and attractive route that is well within reach of the ability of any part-time cyclist, and we have always tried to make sure that the race is safe and manageable for every single rider.”

The race attracts social riders with a variety of road and MTB bikes, and has a strong festive appeal as more and more riders dress up in fancy dress attire for the day, some to raise funds for charity or to get attention for their cause.

The COWS will once more be out in force in their distinctive cow suits to raise funds and awareness for CHOC (childhood cancer).
