Take a Girl Child to Work

Cell C's Take a Girl Child to Work Day aims at exposing young girls to the world of work.

The Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work Day campaign celebrates its 13th anniversary this year, and will take place on Thursday, 28 May.

This day was originally scheduled for June, this year but the organisers have changed the date so as not to conflict with any examination timetables.

Cell C’s Take a Girl Child to Work Day is targeted at Grade 10 to 12 South African schoolgirls, and gives them the opportunity to visit a place of work and to experience the various career opportunities available to them.

More than 50 000 young people will take part this year, with hundreds of companies around the country opening their doors to them.

Since the first launch in 2003, more than 2 400 companies and government departments have participated in this campaign.

Through their support of Cell C’s call to action for the advancement of women, 670 000 girl pupils have been exposed to a multitude of businesses and varied career and job opportunities.

The project is supported by the Presidency, which has hosted young women since the inaugural event, as well as being endorsed by the Department of Education.

Companies who wish to host a group of girls on Thursday, 28 May can now register online at www.cellc.co.za/girlchild.
