Dine with local soccer legends at Escombe fundraiser

Rub shoulders with some of the greatest names in local soccer history at the Escombe Football Club Legends' Lunch this Friday.

IF you would like to meet with some local soccer legends, or simply want to enjoy a lunch with like-minded fans, then the Escombe Football Club’s Legend Lunch on Friday, 20 March, is for you.

Escombe Football Club in Bowker Road, Queensburgh, was established in 1926 and is one of the oldest surviving clubs in the eThekwini Metro area. The club, in association with Expro, Friends Through Sport (expro.co.za) and supported by Marshalls World of Sport, is hosting a fundraising lunch on Friday, 20 March and have invited all past and present players, coaches and administrators to join them in a walk down memory lane.

The invitation has not been restricted to club members only, but includes legends such as Graham Kidd, Robbie Geils, Gavin Laing, Danny Le Roux, Clive Barker, Alan Varner and Bobby Chalmers, among many other well known former players.
Escombe Football Club caters for about 200 juniors as well as seniors, and a women’s team.
The club has, over the past few years, experienced an ever increasing rise in the cost of maintaining the grounds and buildings. The club is one of a very few that operate on leased private land and therefore rely entirely on their members and donors for income, receiving no grants or assistance from the local municipality. The maintenance includes mowing the field, fencing, painting, and the cost of water and electricity.
Contact Mike Chislett on 082 321 0916.
Tickets are R250 a person, which includes a three-course lunch and drinks. Donors will be recognised on the Virtual Table and given access to live video streaming of the event.
