Stats SA conducts living conditions survey

Stats SA representatives will be visiting residents to conduct a living conditions survey.

A LIVING conditions survey will be conducted by Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) for the period 2014/15. Stats SA is mandated (in terms of the Statistics Act No. 6 of 1999) to collect information from the South African public. This data is then used for planning, decision-making, monitoring and the assessment of policies by government, businesses and other institutions.

During the survey, Stats SA will be collecting information on the living conditions of South African households. The aim of the survey is to provide data which will contribute to better understanding poverty in South Africa and to provide data for monitoring poverty over time.

The households that are selected across all nine provinces within South Africa will be participating in this year-long survey, which commenced in October 2014 and will conclude in October 2015. The team of dedicated publicity and survey officers will be in your area over a period of four to six weeks to engage with selected households. A team of publicity officers will visit households about one week prior to the data collection period to explain to households what is required in terms of their participation in this important survey.

In Ward 10, the 10 houses have been randomly selected to participate in this survey. All 10 residences are in Kloof. Ward 10 councillor, Rick Crouch, said, “As of Monday, 16 February, two Stats SA employees, Nomcebo Mkhize and Richard Ntuli, will be in the Kloof area. They will be wearing Stats SA bibs, a Stats SA cap, they will have identification and will be driving a Stats SA branded vehicle.”

All information provided by households will remain confidential. For more information contact Rick Crouch on 031 764 1178.
