Calling all Parabats

Membership is open to paratroopers who qualified locally, nationally and internationally.

IF you qualified as a South African military paratrooper, often referred to as Parabats, you are invited to attend the inaugural meeting of the KwaZulu-Natal Canopy of the South African Paratroopers Association.

Gavin Moultrie, a South African paratrooper who qualified for his Parabat wings in 1974, said paratroopers world-over, share a special and common bond and the idea of forming a provincial canopy was to promote the espre-de-corps and traditions of the paratroopers locally, nationally and internationally.

Moultrie is one of the key organisers behind this KwaZulu-Natal Canopy initiative.

“There are many past paratroopers scattered across KwaZulu-Natal who have expressed an interest in strengthening and improving the airborne comradeship and apart from regular communication of international and South Africa Paratrooper news and updates to all members, the KwaZulu-Natal Canopy will also organise events and get-togethers on special airborne days and occasions,” said Moultrie.

Membership is also open to paratroopers who qualified in other countries.

The inaugural KwaZulu-Natal Canopy of the South African Paratroopers Association will meet at the DLI Hall on Monday 2 March at 6pm. Contact Gavin on 082 350 7975.
