Hospice fundraiser laid to rest

Highway Hospice held a memorial service for Cathy Goss last Friday, 6 February, where family, friends and colleagues celebrated her life.

HIGHWAY Hospice’s fundraiser, Cathy Goss, has died following a brief battle with cancer.

Sheryll de Jager said when Cathy was recruited as a volunteer early in 2014 she wanted to ‘give back’ to Hospice, and this was shown through her dedication to help wherever she could. A position in the fundraising department became available shortly after Cathy commenced volunteering and her official journey with Highway Hospice began.

“Cathy will be remembered for being instrumental in getting our Hospice blog started and keeping our social media up to date. Her dedication to fundraising certainly always came first,” said de Jager.

Cathy’s talents also included various hobbies such as woodwork, baking and reading. She loved challenges and always tried something new: once a project was started and successfully completed she would be looking to master something else.

“You are going to be sorely missed, Cathy. Sincere condolences to all her family and a special thank you to her sister who nursed her during this time,” added de Jager.

A memorial service was held at Highway Hospice’s premises in Sherwood on Friday, 6 February, where family, friends and colleagues joined together in celebrating her life.
