Body of missing Midmar swimmer found

The body of missing Midmar Mile swimmer, Tristan Dennis (30), was recovered on Tuesday, 10 February.

Divers from the South African Police Services located the body early this morning and it was positively identified as Tristan, who disappeared while taking part in the aQuellé Midmar Mile corporate relay on Saturday, 7 February.

His family was immediately notified and made their way to the scene, where the event personnel assisted them, continuing to provide counselling and emotional support services that have been rendered since he went missing.

The event organisers have extended their heartfelt thanks the South African Police Services Search and Rescue and K9 teams under Lt Jack Haskins, the divers from the South African Police Services and the Navy, who worked tirelessly since the alarm was raised.

They also thanked the community of swimmers, both locally and globally, that rallied together in support around this tragedy.
