Help Gilles fulfill his birthday wish

The only wish a Hillcrest boy has for his birthday and Valentine's Day is to reunited with his beautiful Siamese cat, Kalista.

THE only wish an eight-year-old boy has for his birthday is to be reunited with his Siamese cat, Kalista, who has been missing since 18 January.

Gilles Roosendaal and his brother, Pascal, have had to deal with the loss of two pets in one month. Pascal’s Siamese was tragically killed on 10 January after being run over by a car. The chocolate-point cat, named Ash, was found three days later by his devastated owners in a black refuse bag on a neighbour’s verge, just three weeks before his first birthday. Five days after Ash’s death, his sister, Kalista, disappeared.

The family believes her loneliness or attempts to find her brother may have led her astray. Nadia Roosendaal from Hillcrest, who has been desperately searching for Kalista, said, “We have tried every attempt to find Kalista. We have checked at the SPCA, all the highway vets, social networks and even pet detective, Brad Nathanson. We have also distributed flyers at schools and shopping centres.

“With all the information on social media sites we would have expected some kind of response by now, but, alas, she is still not home. We therefore suspect that if someone has kindly taken her in because they are under the impression that she doesn’t have a home, could not connected to social media. The loss of two precious pets within the space of one week is just too much to bear for our family. Gilles will be celebrating his eighth birthday on 14 February and it would be a Valentine’s wish come true if he can be reunited with his beautiful Kalista again,” said Nadia.

Kalista, from 82A Springside Road, Hillcrest is a spayed female chocolate point Siamese with blue eyes. If you have any information about Kalista contact Nadia on 082 486 7746 or 031 765 6694.
